More High Schoolers Taking College Classes
Before they even have a high school diploma, many students in the state are enrolled in college. They're students like Jacky Nevarez, a senior at Hinkley High School in Aurora. She also takes classes at the Community College of Aurora. In Colorado, one in five high school juniors and seniors is taking college courses, according to a report just out. State leaders passed a law a few years ago to encourage “concurrent enrollment,” and say it's a priority. Ryan Warner talks with Lieutenant Governor Joe Garcia, who also leads State Department of Higher Education, and with student Jacky Nevarez.
