Mother Hopes to Meet Son's Murderer
Sharletta Evans says she’s ready to meet her son’s murderer. Casson Evans was just a toddler when he was killed in a drive-by shooting in 1995. Rayond Johnson, who was 16 at the time, pulled the trigger. He was sentenced to life. A new state law will let victims and offenders meet face-to-face in prison. The approach is called restorative justice, and Sharletta Evans believes it could change her life, and the life of her son’s killer. Evans says her desire to meet Johnson began years after the murder, when Raymond Johnson wrote her a letter. She speaks with Ryan Warner.
