"Beethoven: The Complete Piano Concertos"

When Beethoven first moved to Vienna he built his reputation as a pianist, and his piano concertos were the best way for him to display his performing and composing skills. Sadly, it was the one form Beethoven gave up after losing his hearing. His output stopped after the 5th Piano Concerto The Emperor, even though Beethoven lived and composed for another 17 years. Richard Goode has recorded a lot of Beethoven in his storied career, but this is his first recording of the complete Beethoven Piano Concerto cycle. Recorded five years ago with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the cycle has just now been released. Arkivmusic rates it as a "recommended" recording - see it here.
