Lots of smiling faces about how many instruments were donated to the first annual KVOD Instrument Drive! KVOD's David Rutherford (in the blue jacket) and Steve Blatt (far right) helped the guys from The Music Box move some of the donated instruments to KVOD for storage until they head off for repair and refurbishing.

Thanks to your generosity, KVOD's Keep the Music Alive Instrument Drive was a great success, with more than 150 instruments donated within one month! Those requiring repairs are being fixed by our five participating music stores. Early next year, they will be distributed to students in deserving Colorado music programs.

We want to thank The Music Box, Kolacny Music and Flesher-Hinton Music in Denver, Roper Music in Grand Junction and Marck Time Music in Pueblo for receiving, appraising and repairing the donated instruments.

Thanks also to Felice Mancini, Tricia Steel and the staff of Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation for their part in selecting the schools that will receive the instruments.

Letters of appreciation will be sent to all donors by KVOD, so that you can claim your donation on your 2008 tax return.

Again, thanks for giving the gift of music to children in Colorado.

Want to apply for a musical instrument?
You can by contacting The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation's Program Director Tricia Steel at tricia@mhopus.org.

Please note, we have stopped accepting instruments for this year. Please keep your instrument for next year's instrument drive!
