The Colorado Symphony performs live on CPR Classical this Friday at 7:30 p.m. in a concert featuring music by Ludwig van Beethoven, Dmitri Shostakovich and Joseph Haydn.
The program, hosted by CPR Classical's Charley Samson, features Colorado Symphony concertmaster Yumi Hwang-Williams in the spotlight for Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D. Click the audio link above to hear Williams talk about the piece.
Cristian Macelaru, conductor-in-residence of the Philadelphia Orchestra, will lead the orchestra. The evening, subtitled "Symphonic Firsts," also includes Haydn's Symphony No. 1 in D and Symphony No. 1 in F. The program repeats Saturday and Sunday at Boettcher Concert Hall.
Hwang-Williams is a sought-after soloist. She performed Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" with members of the Colorado Symphony in January and Philip Glass's concerto "The American Four Seasons" with Pro Musica Colorado Chamber Orchestra in February.
