Sacred Classics for Palm Sunday on April 17 focuses on Music for Holy Week, the most important week in the church calendar. For centuries, composers have poured their hearts and souls into creating music that captures everything from the glory of the Triumphal Entry on Palm Sunday to the confusion of the disciples, the indignance of the Jewish leaders, and finally the humiliation and horror of Jesus' betrayal, trial and crucifixion.

This Sunday we'll hear from a veritable who's who of composers on the subject: Antonio Vivaldi's Crucifixus etiam pro nobis, Telemann's Brockes-Passion, Joseph Rheinberger's Passion Song, Michael Finnissy's Palm Sunday, Antonio Lotti's Crucifixus, Edward Elgar's Ave verum corpus, and of course, Johann Sebastian Bach's great masterpiece, the St. Matthew Passion.

Tune in on Palm Sunday, April 17, beginning at 7am, for Music for Holy Week, on Sacred Classics, hosted by David Rutherford on Colorado Public Radio.
