Summer is waning, but at least one classical music festival in Colorado is about to hold its opening concert.

Ouray hosts the one-week San Juan Chamber MusicFest, featuring Artistic Director and pianist Max Levinson. Highlights:

Wednesday: A “Music From Around the World” concert with Beethoven’s “Eyeglasses” Duo, Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G Minor, Chopin’s “Military” Polonaise and solo guitar music from Heitor Villa-Lobos. 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Ouray County 4-H Event Center.

Friday: A program titled “Slavic Soul,” featuring music by  Eastern European composers Bela Bartok, Anton Dvorak and Erno Dohanyi. 7:30 p.m. at the Wright Opera House.

Saturday: A family concert with music and entertainment by Wolfgang Amadeus Schmutzinberry. 2-3 p.m. at the Wright Opera House.
