Colorado Public Radio is hiring a producer for Colorado Matters, our award-winning daily interview program. We're looking for someone who loves to dig into issues, find the human side of policy debates, and explore a range of topics - politics, environment, energy, education, healthcare, business, arts and culture. The ideal candidate blends sound news judgment and a strong creative spark to generate fresh, innovative, and relevant coverage that helps Colorado Matters and CPR News stand out in a competitive media landscape.

This producer finds sources for the host to interview using high-level reporting to understand issues and identify best guests; prepares the host with script and background materials; and helps to guide live interviews. Producer works with on-air host to record interviews and may occasionally be asked to gather sound in the field. The producer will also write and post digital content to CPR’s web site and should have a basic understanding of social media platforms.

He/she attends all necessary Colorado Matters/CPR News meetings and contributes to the daily flow of ideas that keep our show fresh, lively, accurate and transformative. The working environment is highly collaborative and open to new ideas.

Colorado Public Radio is a great organization to work for. Our newsroom is expanding rapidly and we are a primary source of news for the state. Colorado is a great state to live in. We look at the Rocky Mountains from the newsroom. Denver is ranked amongst the top cities for bike trails, has a world-renowned art museum, and strong theater and music scenes. Skiing, hiking, mountain biking, etc. are all nearby. The weather is stunning, making it easy to get outdoors year-round.
