Colorado Public Radio is seeking a Digital General Assignment Reporter to join its expanding newsroom. The General Assignment Reporter produces digital breaking news and enterprise stories, as well as news spots, two-ways, features and occasional interviews for Colorado Matters. This position covers primarily daily developments in Colorado and files stories initially for CPR.org, and then develops the stories as needed for newscasts, news magazines and other programming. 

Essential responsibilities:
Covers stories across broad categories including breaking news, education, energy and environment, arts, health, business & the economy, criminal justice, science & technology, and human interest. Coordinates with editor and beat reporters on beat topics. At times assists beat reporters with coverage in their areas. This position identifies trends and developing stories, and pursues enterprise work as time and coverage permits to uncover stories that no one else is reporting.

Researches, writes, reports, edits, and voices a variety of stories every week. Provides soundbites, wraps and voicers for hourly newscasts, and occasional debriefs on Colorado Matters. 
 
Coordinates, writes and produces digital content with an editor and digital team. This person is expected to take photographs and/or video on assignment, use social media while on assignment, and provide explainer material to digital ahead of major developments on a story. Reporter also uses social media to reach sources and communities in the course of reporting and in following-up on stories.
