A female bear that spent nearly two decades as a caged attraction at a Pennsylvania ice cream shop is adjusting to life at a wildlife sanctuary outside Denver.

Wild Animal Sanctuary's executive director tells Friday's York Daily Record that Little Ricki is roaming the 720-acre grasslands and making friends.

She's among more than 300 animals at the sanctuary, including 33 lions recently removed from circuses in Peru and Columbia.

Little Ricki moved there in February after a battle that drew worldwide attention.

Animal rights activists argued Ricki's concrete enclosure at Jim Mack's Ice Cream shop near York was inadequate, causing her mental and physical decline.
