Average ticket prices may be going up, but Denver plans to open its first free cultural venue in summer 2017, an outdoor amphitheater.

This week, the Denver firm Studiotrope Design Collective revealed its design for the new Levitt Pavilion in Ruby Hill Park.

Designers say the amphitheater's shape is supposed to look like a ribbon growing from the ground, connecting the Earth and the sky. During the day, the top will blend into the sky, but at night, it will "reflect the activity of the performances," officials say.
