Authorities are investigating what sparked three grass fires that that spread in dry, windy conditions and damaged property in northern Colorado.

A fire that burned about 100 acres of mostly pastureland near Bennet on Sunday destroyed one home and about a dozen cars.

Meanwhile just outside Greeley a grass fire quickly moved through a field behind some homes. No homes caught fire but the heat from the flames melted the siding of some homes. The Greeley Tribune reports that fire crews had to truck in water to fight the blaze and that two dogs were rescued from a home.

About 400 acres of open land also burned in Wellington Sunday morning but no damage or injuries were reported.
