Judge rejects New Belgium’s complaint against Texas brewery

A Denver judge has dismissed New Belgium Brewing's lawsuit against Oasis Texas Brewing Company over the beer name "Slow Ride." The judge said he didn't have proper juridiction to rule, and also declined to transfer the complaint to a Texas court.

The Fort Collins brewery says they registered "Slow Ride" in May 2014, then discovered that Oasis Texas Brewing Company was making a beer by the that name and not open to working out a solution. But according to Oasis Texas, New Belgium didn't send anyone with authority to meet with them after they traveled to Denver.

New Belgium says the legal battle is not settled though.

"This is in no way a reflection of the merits of our case, but simply a redirection to the U.S. District Court of Texas as the proper venue to determine this case," New Belgium told the Houston Chronicle.
