Most Hayden Pass Fire Evacuees Allowed Back Home

Most of the people evacuated by the wildfire burning near Coaldale are being allowed back home Tuesday.

Residents of about 140 homes in the community between Salida and Canon City were forced to evacuate by the 26-square mile Hayden Pass Fire last week.

The fire has been 35 percent contained but it's expected to keep growing in the Sangre De Cristo Wilderness. A summer cabin was destroyed by the fire but no permanent homes have been lost.

In northern Colorado, the Beaver Creek Fire is burning on 41 square miles along the border with Wyoming.
