Avalanche Risk is Still High

On Saturday, in what was one of the nation’s deadliest avalanches, five men, all in their 30s, died in a backcountry area on Loveland Pass.

All were experienced and prepared for extreme terrain.

They were participating in a snowboarding event called the Rocky Mountain High Backcountry Bash to raise money for the avalanche center.

Ethan Green, Director of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, says the Center had alerted the public of possible avalanches.
