From the Battlefield to the Mountains

Listen Now

Steve Baskis loves climbing mountains. The physical and mental challenges remind him of his old job, being a soldier in the U.S. Army. Baskis served in Iraq before he was wounded in an explosion in 2008. He lost his eyesight, as well as sensation in his left arm, and suffered burns. But none of that prevents him from climbing mountains. He’s one of a handful of wounded veterans who climbed a 20,000 foot peak together in the Himalayas. The trip is documented in the new film High Ground. Ryan Warner talks with Boulder director Michael Brown and Steve Baskis.

High Ground will be shown on March 30th and 31st, at the Vail International Film Festival in Vail, Colorado.
