Brent Cowles is a local musician who got his start singing in Colorado Springs churches. His debut album comes out Friday, June 15.

Brent Cowles started performing as a teenager in his father's Colorado Springs church. But rock 'n' roll inspired the young singer and guitarist to pursue a music career, first as the 16-year-old front man of the band You Me & Apollo and now as a solo artist.

NPR Music named Cowles one of their favorite up-and-coming artists of 2018, comparing his music to that of the Avett Brothers and Alabama Shakes. He releases his debut album Friday, June 15, called "How To Be Okay Alone."

Cowles holds his album release party Thursday, June 13, at Twist & Shout Records. He plays for free in Telluride on June 29, as well as appear at the Velorama Music Festival on August 18.
