Broken: A Love Story

Boulder journalist Lisa Jones says it was an assignment that changed her life. In 2002, she was sent to profile Stanford Addison, a northern Arapaho medicine man and horse trainer. Addison is legendary for taming wild horses without forcing them into submission. He’s also known for purportedly curing everything from cancer to bipolar disorder. Addison is in a wheelchair - he was paralyzed in a car accident 20 years ago. Well, what started as a short magazine profile eventually grew into a years-long passion for Lisa Jones. She wound up spending a lot of time with Stanford Addison at his home on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming. And she chronicles her time there in the book "Broken: A Love Story." It's coming out in paperback next week. Ryan Warner spoke with her about a year ago.
