Governor John Hickenlooper may want to limber up his writing hand; some big bills are about to land on his desk. The first of the Democrats' gun control bills passed the legislature this week, as did civil unions. The governor has voiced his support for all those policies.

Host Ryan Warner talks with CPR's Megan Verlee about some of the ways in which the gun control battle is spilling out beyond the confines of the Capitol, in fights over sheriffs' salaries and potentially into the 2014 election. We also look ahead, to a coming package of Democratic oil and gas bills, and back, to the passage of the civil unions bill earlier this week.
