The full extent of the flood damage to Colorado highways won’t be known until the high water starts to recede. Inspectors and repair crews have been turned back from some spots that are still too dangerous. For now, the state Department of Transportation is counting at least twenty areas of serious road damage, and at least thirty bridges that will need work. Much of that will have to wait while crews tackle the most urgent repairs, including restoring access to isolated places like Lyons and Jamestown before winter sets in.
