Climax Molybdenum Mine to Reopen in 2012

Listen Now

There's a mineral that Colorado’s got a lot of, and that the world needs. But it’s not a household name-- like gold or silver. It's molybdenum, or "moly." And it’s got a lot of applications in our modern lives. It’s often used to strengthen steel, so it’s in buildings and tank armor. It does really well in heat, so it’s in furnace parts and space vehicles. Next year the huge Climax mine is scheduled to repon near Leadville -- but folks there have heard that before. Ryan Warner talks with the editor of the Leadville Herald Democrat, Marcia Martinek.
