Coloradan’s Terror Plot a Near Miss

Listen Now

A string of coincidences -- or a Colorado-born Al Qaeda plot? An Aurora man named Najibullah Zazi dropped a couple of big clues a couple of years ago -- an unusual chemical purchase, a failed attempt to blow up a homemade bomb. But nobody caught on until Zazi slipped a couple of innocous words into an e-mail. That helped the feds unravel what could have been Al Qaeda's most damaging U.S. attack since 2001. Writer Garrett Graff tells Zazi's story in the November issue of 5280 magazine. He speaks with Ryan Warner.
