On this week's show:

  • Portrait painters Jenny Morgan and Daniel Sprick talk about their concurrent exhibitions in Denver, the similarities and differences in their work, and the benefits and challenges of painting strangers versus family and friends.

  • With Hispanic Heritage Month underway nationwide, Denver Mayor’s Office communications director Rowena Alegría and Su Teatro artistic director Tony Garcia discuss the merits and drawbacks of highlighting Latino culture and history during one specific month.

  • The Colorado Symphony is retreating indoors for the winter season after a summer of playing backup to pop bands at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. CPR junior arts reporter Stephanie Wolf examines factors that pose serious challenges to the sound quality at the famed outdoor venue near Denver.

  • Colorado poet Suzanne Bronson became fascinated by the connection between a ballerina and her pointe shoes after coming across a collection of autographed ballet slippers. The autographed pointe shoes inspired Bronson to write a poem called “En Pointe” that she shared with CPR.

The Colorado Art Report airs on Fridays at 10.30 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Tune in live or access the program online at any time. The weekly show is now also available as a podcast via iTunes and the NPR podcast directory.
