Colorado Springs and Fort Collins Among Top Nationally For Job Growth Last Year

Colorado Springs and Fort Collins both ranked among the nation's top ten cities in job growth last year.

Colorado Springs came in fourth in the U.S. with a 5.5 percent gain in nonfarm jobs in 2018, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The city's job market grew by 16,100 jobs.

Fort Collins ranks ninth with 4.4 percent growth. Its job market grew by 7,300 nonfarm jobs.

Only three cities topped the list ahead of Colorado Springs — Ocean City, N.J.; Midland, Texas; and Kokomo, Ind. BLS termed the gains in Ocean City and Kokomo as not "statistically significant."

Further down the list, Boulder ranked 47th with a 3-percent gain, followed by Greeley at number 79 with a 2.6-percent growth rate.

In 2017, Greeley ranked 10th.

Metro Denver came in at 119th with a 2.1-percent growth rate. That's up from a 1.6-percent growth rate the year before. Grand Junction landed in the middle, 154th, with 1.9 percent growth.

Pueblo only added 300 jobs with 0.5-percent growth and a ranking of 322nd.
