A University of Colorado forecast predicts Republican Mitt Romney will win the presidential election this fall. The peer-reviewed model is new. It relies heavily on economic factors and would have have accurately predicted the winner of every presidential contest since 1980. Political science professors Kenneth Bickers of CU-Boulder and Michael Berry of CU-Denver say the model gives Romney 320 electoral votes, while the president ends up with 218. Other models predict Mr. Obama will be re-elected. Bickers spoke with CPR’s Pat Mack and explained how his forecast is different.
