Demand, Prices Rising for Food Bank

Listen Now

Today, a visit to Foodbank of the Rockies. In a cluster of warehouses along I-70 in northeast Denver, forklifts zip around unloading trucks while pallets of food are pushed into storage. These days, this place is taking a triple hit. First, the need for the food is up. Second, so is the price of gas for trucks that pick up the food and then deliver it to pantries and kitchens across Colorado and Wyoming. And finally, the price of the food itself is up, too, way up. Kevin Seggelke is the president and CEO of Foodbank of the Rockies and he talked to CPR's Ryan Warner first about high gas prices.
