Denver Council to Votes on Taxing Marijuana

It's not easy to regulate or tax a brand new industry -- but that's just what lawmakers are grappling with. The Denver City Council Monday voted to add a municipal tax of 5% to state taxes on cannabis. But -- given the uncertainty ahead -- they also chose to go to voters with a "floating tax rate" ranging from 3.5 to 15%. If voters approve it, the Council could change the tax rate, within that range, without another ballot measure.

In other marijuana news, Colorado Springs has decided to ban recreational sales altogether, leaving the city’s 90 medical dispensaries in limbo. To help break down some of these developments, host Elaine Grant turns to our reporter Ben Markus, who's been following these twists and turns.
