Ed Pearl Helped Develop Fujita Scale

June is the height of tornado season in Colorado. Any twister that does real damage is measured on a scale developed by Ted Fujita, a man who earned the nickname “Dr. Tornado” because of his research into severe weather at the University of Chicago. Meteorologist Ed Pearl, of Lakewood, worked side-by-side with Fujita. Pearl was a TV weather forecaster for years in Denver. He tells CPR's Ryan Warner that during his time with Fujita in the 1970s, they had a Learjet on stand by.
