Colorado became a state in 1876, and not long after the Vigil family began farming in Capulin along the southern Colorado border. Vigil Farms and other century-old family farms and ranches were honored at the Colorado State Fair this year. The Centennial Awards recognize farms that have stayed in the same family for at least 100 years. Pete Vigil, Jr. talked to Colorado Matters about continuing his family's legacy, and how some farming challenges can stretch from generation to generation.
