All over the west new jobs and money are flowing into rural towns as mining and drilling operations flourish. Yet demand in the U.S. for things like oil, coal and copper is flat. So what’s going on? To find out, writer Jonathan Thompson went a western road trip for the magazine High Country News. He found many roads leading to China. Thompson speaks to Ryan Warner.
