Doctors from around the world continue to travel to Haiti, more than two years after the devastating earthquake. Dr. Daniel Perlman is a specialist in infectious diseases at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver. He’s just returned from a month of volunteer work at Albert Schweitzer Hospital, which is in a rural part of the country. Perlman expected to be working with cholera patients. Cholera was a big problem following the earthquake. Instead, he treated illnesses not related to the quake, things more typical in Haiti, namely tuberculosis and HIV. And one thing that struck him, as he tells CPR's Zachary Barr, was how intimately involved families are in the care of their loved ones.
