Listen Now

The first black Denver police officer to be killed in the line of duty is being memorialized after 90 years. William O. Steam’s name will be etched onto the fallen officers memorial before a ceremony May 13 in Denver. Championing his cause is Officer Dean Christopherson, who heads the campaign to create a Denver Police Museum. Christopherson told Ryan Warner that he came across an old newspaper article about Officer Steam’s murder and wanted to know more about him. (First aired April 13, 2011)
