When Penny Eucker took  the reins at Highlands Ranch’s STEM School and Academy in 2012, it was failing and slated for closure.  Now the school, which emphasizes science, technology, engineering and math, ranks 11th out of high schools in Colorado.  The reason seems to be an innovative blend of arts, student-led learning, and real-world emphasis.
