In Denver, Bikes And Cars And Targeted More And More By Thieves

Thieves steal more than three bikes per day in Denver, and bike thefts through the first half of the year are up 20 percent.

New numbers show that most of the bike thefts this year are around Union Station. In fact three neighborhoods, Five Points, Union Station and Capitol Hill are by far, the locations thieves target most often.

Criminals also continue to target cars. Auto thefts are up 8 percent in the city and are on pace to hit the highest number since at least 2013. Some of Denver's poorest neighborhoods are typically targeted, including Westwood and Montbello.

Most car thefts involve later model vehicles that are usually easier to steal.
