There are more than a thousand firefighters working on the High Park Fire near Fort Collins. Three dozen of them are prisoners. They are all non-violent offenders who joined SWIFT, the State Wildland Inmate Fire Team. The ones working in Larimer County were out-of-reach, but we caught up with a prisoner who’d just returned from fighting another fire, in Park County. Robert Sims told Ryan Warner what is most gratifying about his work.
