Sunday marked the end of an era in Golden when the amusement park Heritage Square shut down for good, with the exception of a few buildings and rides that are owned separately. The park was losing money.

Heritage Square was dedicated in 1958, with dreams of becoming as big as Disneyland. In fact, some of its designers and architects had a hand in Disneyland. Historian Richard Gardner spoke with Colorado Matters Host, Ryan Warner. You can view Gardner's on-line exhibit about Magic Mountain here.
