Prof: In-State Tuition Harmful

Listen Now

A professor at CU-Boulder thinks in-state tuition should end. He thinks all students should pay the same rate whether they’re from Colorado or not. He argues that in-state tuition contributes to budget problems at universities, harms academic quality and dampens economic growth. Roger Pielke Jr. outlined his thoughts in an opinion piece in The Chronicle of Higher Education. He speaks with CPR's Ryan Warner. A spokesman for the Colorado Board of Regents says the regents have not discussed this idea and have no plans to do so.
