Colorado is home to the longest-serving active medical school dean in the U.S. But soon, he’s stepping down.

Richard Krugman made the announcement last month. He’s led the University of Colorado Medical School for 24 years, setting the record for the longest-serving medical school dean in the state.

In that time, CU's medical school moved from a small building downtown to the sprawling Anschutz campus in Aurora.

Krugman says that move is one of his biggest accomplishments as dean, and ushered in a new era for the medical school.
