Donald Trump’s Colorado campaign is touting a list of state lawmakers who’ve pledged support to the Republican presidential nominee. Their endorsements come as Trump is under intense criticism following comments unearthed on an Access Hollywood tape. He's facing a wave of defections from higher up in the party as a result – including congressional names like Sen. Cory Gardner and Rep. Mike Coffman.
Nineteen of the state legislature’s 49 Republican members signed on to the letter, pledging to fully back Trump. Their statement of support also notes that the balance of the U.S. Supreme Court is in play with this election.
“As an elected official and Republican leader I fully support the Republican nominee for President Donald J. Trump. Mr. Trump presents a unique opportunity for America to move in a decidedly different direction. With the Supreme Court at risk, this is the time for those in leadership to stand strong and unified.”
Notably absent from the list are the chamber’s top Republicans. Senate President Bill Cadman, Senate Majority Leader Mark Sheffel, and House minority leader Brian Del Grosso do not appear on the statement of support. The names that did sign on include:
