Bonnaroo lineup announced
The Bonnaroo Music Festival, which takes place June 12-15 in Manchester, Tenn., has announced its lineup for the 2014 event. Headliners include Elton John, Kanye West, Jack White, and Vampire Weekend. The three-day festival will also feature Phoenix, Arctic Monkeys, The Flaming Lips, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Neutral Milk Hotel, Janelle Monae, and many, many more. Devo guitarist Bob Casale dead at 61
Bob Casale, longtime guitarist for influential New Wave/post-punk act Devo, passed away Monday at the age of 61. His brother, Devo bassist Gerald Casale, announced the news this week. The cause of death was said to be “conditions that lead to heart failure.” Frontman Mark Mothersbaugh stated that Bob Casale was “integral in Devo’s sound.” Devo formed in Arkon, Ohio in the early '70s and gained fame for songs like "Whip It" and their cover of the Rolling Stones’ “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.” [via the New York Times]
Fiona Apple to appear in French TV show about superheroes
Fiona Apple will appear in a French televison show about superheroes called "H-Man." The program was created by Joseph Cahill, who directed Apple's music video for "Every Single Night." Apple plays a character named "BioFrau" who, in the sixth episode of the series, is trapped in a nuclear power plant. [via Consequence of Sound]
New releases: Sharon Van Etten, Chairlift's Caroline Polachek, Split Single
Singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten will release "Are We There," the follow-up to 2012 breakout album "Tramp," this May via Jagjaguwar; Chairlift vocalist Caroline Polachek has announced her debut solo LP as Ramona Lisa, titled "Arcadia" out on April 15; Spoon frontman Britt Daniel's newest band Split Single, which features members of Bob Mould's band and Superchunk, will release debut album "Fragmented World" on April 1.
