Neutral Milk Hotel to play two Colorado shows
Neutral Milk Hotel have expanded their 2014 tour to include two Colorado dates at The Boulder Theater (March 30) and Denver’s Ogden Theater (March 31). Tickets for the latter go on sale Saturday, December 14. Frontman Jeff Mangum famously moved to Denver to write and record seminal album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, and this will be the band’s first return to the city since reuniting this year. St Vincent to release new album next February
St. Vincent, the performing moniker of singer-songwriter Annie Clark, has announced she will release a new self-titled album on February 25, 2014. In addition to sharing a new track, “Birth in Reverse,” via her website, Clark has announced a string of tour dates that include a show at the Ogden Theatre on March 29. [via Pitchfork]
RIP The Child of Lov
Belgian musician The Child of Lov has died at age 26. The artist, whose real name was Martijn William Zimri Teerlinck, passed on December 10 after complications from surgery. Teerlinck gained critical acclaim for his self-titled debut as The Child of Lov, which was produced by Damon Albarn. [via The Independent]
Vampire Weekend, Beck, Jim James on Starbuck's Valentine's Day compilation
Starbuck's will release a Valentine's Day compilation CD as part of their Sweetheart: Our Favorite Artists Play Their Favorite Love Songs annual series. The 13 songs on the disc include contributions from Vampire Weekend, Fiona Apple, Beck, Jim James, Sharon Jones, and Valerie June, each covering a love song. Dessa performs on latest Tiny Desk Concert
Dessa, member of the Minneapolis-based Doomtree hip-hop collective and solo artist, is featured on the latest Tiny Desk Concert from NPR Music. She performed a few tracks off of her excellent solo album Parts of Speech. In addition to performing in the CPR Performance Studio last summer, Dessa recently delivered a keynote address at the Denver Music Summit last month.
