The Denver City Council today approved a contract for Superfly Productions to launch a new music festival at the city's Overland Park Golf Course, according to the Denver Post

The New York City-based event company co-produces the long-running Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tenn., and Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival in San Francisco. The Denver council's approval will allow the company to put on a similar three-day festival each September, beginning next year.

Superfly claims the event could host as many as 80,000 attendees a day. It also promised to book Colorado artists along with major music acts.
