We caught up with Shakey Graves in between two sold out Denver shows for a performance in our CPR Performance Studio.
CPR Performance Studio
The Colorado Pubic Radio Performance Studio provides a stage to showcase the depth and variety of both classical, and new and independent music coming to, and from, Colorado. CPR's OpenAir also offers a podcast of interviews and performances from select musicians, and additional performances from the archive available here.
Grant Farm, based in Boulder, boasts some of the ablest musicians not only in the state of Colorado, but in the nation: guitarist and bandleader Tyler Grant was named National Flatpicking Champion in 2008, and the members have featured in renowned bluegrass and jam bands Leftover Salmon, The Drew Emmitt Band, Emmitt-Nershi Band and more.
Since lead single "Divisionary (Do the Right Thing)" from Portland group Ages and Ages first enraptured our eardrums earlier this year, we've been anxiously anticipating the release of the choral indie pop band's second full-length "Divisionary" to hear more. Luckily, we got a sneak peek at a few new Ages and Ages tracks in our very own CPR Performance Studio this week.
We've had Esme Patterson in our CPR Performance Studio before, both solo and with her band Paper Bird. But we couldn't wait to get her back in to the station to perform some fiery cuts from "Woman to Woman" with her new band.
