A popular concert hall in downtown Denver will temporarily close its doors this summer so its owners can beef up the sound system and renovate the space to hold bigger audiences.

Summit Music Hall, located at 1902 Blake St. in LoDo, will shut down June 21 to undergo renovations. Live Nation Clubs & Theaters today announced plans to increase the venue's capacity from 1,100 to 1,350 and improve its sound system, restrooms and artist dressing rooms.

The venue will reopen Sept. 6 and immediately begin hosting concerts. Forthcoming highlights include a Sept. 7 reunion show from Denver band The Epilogues, DJ sets from electronica producer Tycho on Oct. 19 and 20, and British pop singer Lily Allen on Nov. 3. See more at the venue's website.

The nearby Marquis Theater, another Live Nation venue, will also close for renovations from July 2 to Aug. 12.
