Instant Empire

Instant Empire returned to the CPR Performance Studio last week prior to a performance at the Summit Music Hall. Since their last visit in 2013, the members of the Denver band have recorded their debut album, "Lamplight Lost," due out this June.

The band played four new songs from "Lamplight Lost," two of them featuring a newly-added horn section. OpenAir digital producer Daniel Mescher spoke with the band about working with producers John Vanderslice (Spoon, Death Cab for Cutie) and Jon Low (The National, The War on Drugs) for the debut full-length, what it's like for Denver transplants to acclimate into the local music scene and the potential for an upcoming tour.

Stream the session above, and watch video of "Neighbor Girl" below.

Songs performed:

  • "Neighbor Girl"
  • "Mind the Gap"
  • "Dead Air"
  • "Zoo Lions"
