Mitski

Over the course of four studio albums, Mitski has established herself as one of the fiercest songwriters in modern indie rock. Her lyrics vividly depict depression, loneliness and anger. She backs those words with music that ranges from delicately strummed folk to loud punk rock, sometimes within a single song.

More from OpenAir Sessions:

Mitski's latest album is last year's "Puberty 2." Before a headlining show in Denver, she stopped into the CPR Performance Studio. She played three songs and spoke with Alisha Sweeney about her nomadic upbringing, her cover of a One Direction song and her upcoming tour opening for Pixies, whom she cites as a huge musical influence.
