It was a garage-punk double header at OpenAir when the duo Rootbeer & Mermentau -- who recently moved to Denver from Louisiana -- and Denver live staples Dirty Few both played in the CPR Performance Studio last week.

The two acts just released the split single "Set Em Free" on 7-inch vinyl. The bands will celebrate its release with a performance at Denver's Hi-Dive on Oct. 5.

In addition to playing rowdy dueling sets, the bands spoke with Alisha Sweeney about how their friendship began and how the split release came to fruition.
