Ty Segall, ‘Orange Color Queen’

There are many sides to Ty Segall's music, so we never know what to expect from his new releases.

This year's "Emotional Mugger" was a loud psych-rock record which he would perform live wearing a baby mask. "Orange Color Queen" -- the lead single from his forthcoming self-titled album -- shows an entirely different side of the California singer-songwriter.

It's a soft acoustic ballad that leans more toward folk than rock. Segall told NPR Music that it's a love song for his girlfriend, who helps alleviate his fear of flying.

"Ty Segall" is out Jan. 27.
