Red Rocks is one of Colorado's finest treasures, but its history has been tricky on occasion. Death threats, riots and outright bans of rock music plagued the venue as it transitioned from natural wonder to modern amphitheater.
The 2014 list of the state's most endangered sites includes a homesteading ranch in Frasier that doubled as a stagecoach stop, and the collection of brightly lit neon signs along Colfax Avenue that stretch from Lakewood to Aurora.
This summer, state historians organized a vote to choose the state's most significant artifact. Winners were just announced.
