Republican Mike Pence and Democrat Tim Kaine faced off in the vice presidential debate, held Tuesday night from Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia.

The debate between VP candidates was moderated by Elaine Quijano of CBS News and follows the first showdown between Clinton and Trump – which was the most watched debate ever. Tuesday’s debate was divided into nine segments covering topics like immigration, the military and foreign policy.

The NPR politics team, with help from reporters and editors who cover national security, immigration, business, foreign policy and more, live annotated the debate. Portions of the debate with added analysis are highlighted, followed by context and fact checks from NPR reporters and editors.
